I have taken purchase of a 1989 Mitsubishi Starion.
It is factory, apart for the huge twin exhausts and alloys. I plan on keeping it this way, but put the original alloys on. It has the original stereo!!
Amongst the typical gadget, it has cool stuff (that normal cars don't have) like an LSD, an intercooler, proper leather bucket seats, air con, an awesome tiny boot (with compartment underneath), a new engine in May 2007, and probably more important for me, not a lot of rust.
The Astra was plagued with darned rusty arches, and has been a bug bear for me, what with getting the surface flat, and painting, and scraping them against walls, that type of thing.
The Starion has rust, but it's treatable ... but not by me. Never again! Spraying, welding and filling is an artform!
The worrying thing about the car is how tidy and clean it is.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. It's currently at the mysterious stage, I have now scratched through my skull into my brain trying to figure out what's going on. Fortunately, I'm confident the new Ignition Coil, Injectors, Ignitor, Throttle Body, and Control Relay will solve it, as it's getting no spark, and too much fuel (1050cc injector stuck open). It has worked, without the fuel pump and throttle body lifted off (running off the pool of fuel in the inlet - with a bang), on a couple of cylinders, but that was it.
Here's a video of it 'running'.
